Tracy Dopko, BA, DipEqS, ISA CAPP

Considered one of the world's leading agricultural appraisers & expert witness, Tracy is a senior agricultural, livestock, farm equipment, and equine appraiser with the American Society of Agricultural Appraisers, certified member with the International Society of Appraisers, accredited senior member with the American Society of Appraisers, and a private investigator specializing in equine & livestock cases. She is also Chair of the Personal Property Resource Panel for The Appraisal Foundation, an organization that sets the U.S. congressionally authorized standards and qualifications for appraisers. Tracy has been performing agricultural appraisals for over two decades and has been retained globally as an agricultural, livestock & equine expert witness and consultant for litigation cases. Tracy is qualified as an expert in court proceedings in both Canada and the United States and has helped her clients win millions in litigation judgments and settlements.
Tracy is part of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) Private Client Services group, a program for appraisers who work with both High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) and gatekeepers specializing in private client services. Only 5% of ISA members make it into the Private Client Services program, which up until now, has consisted exclusively of high-end gems & jewelry, fine art, and antiques appraisers. Tracy is the first livestock appraiser to be accepted. Her HNW clients include Grand Prix & Olympic competitors/owners, celebrities, high-profile investors, British royalty, and members of the Forbes list.
Tracy has appraised some of the most well-known Holstein, Angus & Jersey cattle in North America and has also appraised some of the top jumper and dressage horses in Europe through Daventry Equine Appraisal Services, a division of Daventry Appraisal Services. She works closely with several of the major insurance companies in both the U.S. and Canada on livestock death-claim reimbursements and fraud investigation, completed appraisals for multi-million dollar estate and insurance settlements, IRS tax audits, divorce disputes, and has performed appraisals for multi-million dollar hog, poultry, dairy, and beef operations. Tracy is also a livestock, game, marine, zoo, and endangered animal appraiser for the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS).
Tracy is also known in the industry as the go-to appraiser for obscure and exotic animals. She has extensive experience appraising breeding/show dogs, breeding/show cats, animal actors for film & television, and game, exotic, and endangered animals (both land and marine) for various private zoos, aquariums, sanctuaries, and non-profit foundations throughout North America.
Early in her career, Tracy volunteered at a local zoo while enrolled in pre-veterinary medicine at the University of Alberta. This work experience gave her a back door pass into some of the largest zoos in North America and insight into the private world of zoo animal sales and exchanges. She has extensive experience working directly with both Asian & African elephants, Bactrian camels, birds of prey, capuchin monkeys & gibbons, fruit bats, harbor seals & sea lions, ring-tailed lemurs, river otters, tigers, wolves, a variety of snakes and reptiles, and extensive experience raising bear and cougar cubs in the nursery. She was also lucky enough to work directly with the endangered Swift Fox as part of a government recovery program.
The co-owner/operator of Daventry Equestrian along with her husband, Tracy showned successfully on the American and Canadian hunter/jumper circuits as well as the dressage circuit for over 25 years, is an accomplished judge, and has also been an avid equine breeder and trainer for the last 30 years, including winning several Canadian National and US National show hunter titles. She has also won multiple National Championships in western pleasure and trail. Over the last 30 years, Tracy has also had extensive experience breeding and showing llamas.
Tracy runs a successful breeding operation, standing several stallions and managing a successful shipped semen operation with a high first-cycle conception rate each year. She personally freezes semen on all of the resident stallions, as well as performing palpations, ultrasounding, and embryo transfers on her own mares. Tracy has taken extensive courses in equine embryo transfer, equine ultrasound, and equine frozen semen with some of North America's most respected equine reproduction specialists.
In 2017, Tracy graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with distinction, focusing on Criminal Justice and Public Policy, and an Equine Studies Diploma with distinction. and is now a full-time instructor at the University of Guelph in the Equine Studies Diploma and Equine Business Management programs. Tracy also holds an Equine Welfare Certificate with distinction from the University of Guelph and works for the Government of Alberta as an equine, dairy, cow/calf, swine & sheep production tester for the Green Certificate Program.
Tracy recently completed both a Civil & Criminal Expert Witness Certificate with the prestigious Cardiff University School of Law in the United Kingdom. Training included testifying multiple times as an expert witness in mock trials, submitting expert witness reports for grading, and intensive workshops on expert witness strategy. Combined with her background and credentials in the agricultural & animal industries, Tracy's appraisals and expertise are a valuable asset in the courtroom.

We are very happy with Daventry Appraisal Services in helping us navigate the very difficult task of appealing the valuation of our poultry with USDA during an Avian Influenza outbreak. At a difficult time, Tracy was very knowledgeable and helpful in conducting our valuation and walking us through the Appeal Process. All work was completed timely and in a professional manner. We would recommend Daventry to any producers who have need for a professional appraisal and dealing with the USDA process.

Tracy was excellent! Really knowledgeable and professional. The reports she produced were extremely comprehensive and genuinely couldn't have been better. I have already recommended her to a friend also going through a legal battle! Thank you Tracy.

I will be honest this is my first review I've written but when you find a company of such high caliber as Daventry you become compelled to spread the word. We at Vos Vegas have had the pleasure of doing business twice with Daventry for appraisals done on our registered Angus cattle. Throughout both instances Tracy has exemplified the meaning of courtesy and professionalism. Tracy's attention to the smallest of details combined with her methodical investigative techniques has far exceeded our expectation. Truly reassuring in today's agricultural marketplace and its uncertainty that a company such as Daventry are there to be relied on. Vos Vegas considers ourselves fortunate to receive their report compiled with the accuracy and integrity needed to get the job done. KODOS to Tracy for a job well done and definitely we highly recommend this company.

We contacted Tracy for assistance with filing an appeal on a livestock valuation relating to a USDA indemnity valuation. With Tracy's expertise we were able to make a full recovery. Thanks Tracy!

Working with Tracy has been super refreshing. To call up and have a super hard deadline to meet and have her and her team take on the challenge of a quick turn around, meet it and be so helpful and friendly thru the process, to say the least was amazing. I wish we had more business like this. I would totally use her again and will tell others about this great appraisal company. Thanks for working with us!!
My stallion was killed by a distracted driver. Tracy was compassionate, professional and exceptionally helpful. We sued and when the opposing attorney read her appraisal he settled in less than 15 minutes for the full amount. I don't think you could find a better appraiser. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how exceptional I think she is.
